Me Pascal Jolicoeur, associé
Me Jolicoeur is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and was admitted to the Québec Bar in 2003. He has practised at Cliche Avocats since completing his articling period in 2002 with the firm.
His practice focuses primarily on criminal and penal law and he is regularly required to represent clients before the courts, particularly before the Court of Québec, as well as before the Superior Court of Quebec and the Quebec Court of Appeal.
Me Jolicoeur, who is fluently bilingual, can provide his services in English or French and is at ease pleading before the courts in either of the official languages.
In addition, Me Jolicoeur is highly involved in the Val d’Or community. He has been a member of the board of directors of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Comedy Festival for a number of years. He is also an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Val-d’Or, whose mission is to raise funds from within the Val-d’Or community so that it can be reallocated to those most in need. Me Jolicoeur was president of the Club from 2007-2008 and chaired the 2011 Super Salon Kinsmen.
Me Antoine Nolet-Godbout, associé
Me Antoine Nolet Godbout was born in Val-d’Or. He completed his law degree at Université Laval in Québec City, place where he also did his bar admission course at the École du Barreau du Québec. During his academic course, Me Nolet Godbout worked with the firm Cliche Avocats as a student during the summer periods. It is also with this same team that he completed his professional training in 2014.
Today, Me Nolet-Godbout works mainly in business law. He assists entrepreneurs in the purchase and sale of businesses and the negotiation of commercial contracts in different industries. He also represents his clients in corporate and commercial litigation before the courts. His involvement in litigation has led him to develop skills in the prevention and resolution of disputes and to demonstrate pragmatism and efficiency in finding solutions to the various problems that his clients may face.
Me Nolet-Godbout sits as a director of the Val-d’Or Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation and of the Club Optimiste de Val-d’Or.
Me Sylvain Labranche
Me Labranche is born in Ville-Marie, in the Témiscamingue area, and is an experienced litigator who has been a member of the Québec Bar since 1992. Me Labranche focuses his practice in the area of labour law, health and safety law, mainly for private employers and public institutions, and civil law. He thus represents a number of corporations in matters involving commercial law, contracts as well as civil liability.
For more than a decade, Me Labranche has held the position of municipal prosecuting attorney for the city of Val-d’Or and for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, in connection with the cases brought before the Municipal Court of Val-d’Or. He remains counsel at this level. He is still the prosecutor in charge of the municipal prosecution files for the City of Malartic, the municipalities of Rivière-Héva and Belcourt and for the MRC de la Vallée-de-l’Or.
Further, in recent years, Me Labranche has held one of the positions of corresponding syndic for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region on behalf of the Office of the Syndic of the Québec Bar.
Over the years, Me Labranche, who is socially committed, has sat on numerous boards of directors of Val-d’Or organizations. He is an active member of the Richelieu Club of Val-d’Or and participates in various activities as host or master of ceremonies.
Me Sylvie Gourd
A native of Rouyn-Noranda and returned in Abitibi-Témiscamingue since January 2009, Me Sylvie Gourd obtained her Law degree at the University of Quebec in Montreal and was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2002.
Working in private practice since 2002, she practiced in the Montreal area in fields of labor law, immigration law, Industrial accidents and occupational diseases Act (health and safety) and the Automobile Insurance Act (SAAQ), in administrative law, family law and in youth protection.
Since her return to our region, she practices primarily in family law.
During her practice years in the Montreal region, Me Gourd has been a member for five years and president of the board of directors for three years at a non-profit organization named Comité d’actions des citoyens et citoyennes de Verdun (CACV) in Montreal and was a volunteer lawyer for the Small Claims Court in association with the Young Bar Association of Montreal for the preparation of the parties (plaintiff or defendant) to their hearing, for 5 years.
Me Pierre-Luc Simard
Originally from Saguenay, Me Pierre-Luc Simard has a multidisciplinary academic background at the University of Sherbrooke. After obtaining a certificate in physics, he obtained, concurrently, a bachelor’s degree in law, a juris doctor in common law/transnational law and a certificate in modern languages.
He was called to the Bar in April 2019, after completing his internship in the Quebec Public Service during which he acquired his first experiences before the Court of Quebec.
Arriving in Val d’Or in July 2019, he continues his practice of representation, particularly in youth protection and administrative law.
Me Simard joins the Cliche Avocats team in September 2020 to continue, develop and diversify his civil law practice.
A scientist by training, a career lawyer, he does not hesitate to use his varied skills and knowledge in carrying out his tasks.
Using the skills and knowledge he acquired during his studies in modern languages, Me Simard offers his services in French, English and Spanish. He is able to represent and advocate in both official languages.
An outdoor enthusiast, he was involved for several years in training and educating the next generation in hunter and fisher as an instructor in Estrie.
Eager to give back his community, he does not hesitate to get involved in it and he is always keeping an eye open for new opportunities to help his neighbours.
Me Marie-Ève Turgeon
Born in Val-d’Or, Me Turgeon completed her law degree at the University of Ottawa in 2019. During her studies, she received scholarships for the Dean’s award at the University of Ottawa in 2017, 2018, 2019. She also completed a certificate in business administration at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Me Turgeon is a member of the Québec Bar since 2020.
During her studies, Me Turgeon worked for Cliche Avocats as a student in 2017 and 2018. She joined our team of professionals in the month of December 2020. Me Turgeon is also involved in the legal community of her region; she is president of the Jeune Barreau Abitibi-Témiscamingue and also the secretary of the Association des Jeunes Barreaux de region.
Me Turgeon concentrates her practice in criminal and penal law. Me Turgeon is known to be very human; she always paints a realistic portrait of the situation. One of the strengths of Me Turgeon is without a doubt teamwork, either with her colleagues or her clients.
Me Turgeon is also perfectly bilingual, she completed most of her education in English. She is in means of representing her clients in court in both languages.
Furthermore, having an important concern for everything related to the environment, Me Turgeon is a youth member of the environmental advisory committee of the MRC de la Vallée-de-l’Or.
Me Anne-Frédérique Girard
Born in Val-d’Or, Me Anne-Frédérique Girard obtained her Law degree at the University of Sherbrooke. During her studies, she received the Maurice-Delorme prize by the Saint-François Judicial District Bar for her performance in a mock trial in criminal and penal law.
Me Girard worked with the firm Cliche Avocats as a student and completed her professional training with this same team. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2022.
Passionate about criminal and penal law, she focuses her practice in this area. Having the best interests of her clients at heart, she accompanies them by making sure to offer them impeccable service adapted to their needs. She is known for her human approach and her professional rigour, which allows her to build a solid and privileged relationship of trust with each of her clients.
Me Roxanne Bouchard
Me Bouchard, born in Val-d’Or, completed her law degree at the University of Sherbrooke before starting her bar admission course attached to the same city. During the summer periods, she had the opportunity to work in the judicial field, including as a student in our firm. Her love for the rural life brought her back in Abitibi to complete her professional training before being called to the Bar in January 2022. This internship introduced her to the practice of family law, municipal law and penal prosecution.
Working currently principally in civil and commercial litigation within our firm, Me Bouchard supports the family law team. Her developed research skills and her candor make her a lawyer able to set the record straight.
Me Bouchard volunteered in the past for the Breakfast Club of Canada and is always open to volunteer for sport and social events.
Me Shanna Rioux
Me Rioux obtained her civil law license in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa. She also received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship from the Faculty of Law multiple times. Throughout her studies and during the summer period, she had the opportunity to work in legislative and judicial domains, notably at the Library of Parliament of Canada and the Law Branch at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Me Rioux was admitted to the Quebec Bar in December 2023. Originally from Saguenay, she decided to establish her practice in Val d’Or, primarily focusing on family law. Me Rioux also occasionally supports the criminal law team. Her humane approach, listening skills, and perseverance make her a lawyer who will meet the needs of her clients.
